August 2017
The Allium Working Group agreed on their crop-specific standards for in vitro culture and cryopreservation (see here)   [2]

July 2017
The first SafeAlliDiv project meeting was held 11-12 July 2017 in Tallinn, Estonia. [more info]  [1]

December 2016
The project on "Safeguarding of potato onion (Allium cepa L. Aggregatum group) and garlic (Allium sativum L.) crop diversity in North Europe - Baltic region (SafeAlliDiv)", submitted by the Allium Working Group for funding under the Fourth Call of the ECPGR Activity Grant Scheme, was selected by the Executive Committee. May 2015
The Allium Working Group agreed on their crop-specific standards for field genebanks (see here)  [2]

Further development of the European Allium Database  [3]

Thanks to the database manager Markus Oppermann at IPK, Gatersleben, the European Allium Database has been upgraded into a database which is searchable online. This is a real improvement in contrast to the earlier state of an Access database only.

Background information

The Allium Working Group was established in 1982 as one of the original six Working Groups developed during the first Phase of ECPGR.
